Once again I happen upon Twitter and see a demo that I must play. I really enjoy scrolling through Twitter, sorting through all the crap, and finding that one diamond in the rough. This week is a game that eerily looks like a game named Apico, but it is not based on bees but on frogs. This week is the Mudborne demo.
Mudborne is a cozy nature sim from ellraiser and published by TNgineers. The game will release on the PC and has no release date and no price.
YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN to do the frog God’s work and bring back the frogs to their natural habit. As a bipedal frog man yourself, collect them, breed them, and discover more frog species that can enter this weird world.

Mudborne does all the things that Sims need so far. The player is chopping down trees, harvesting mushrooms, and moving frogs into their new love nest.
Much of the gameplay comes from learning the genes of the frogs to breed the most perfect frogs. Genes can be improved through the breaking down of the mushrooms to make a slurry for the mud bed for when the tadpoles are born.

If you have ever seen Apico, then you have seen Mudborne. It has a nice cozy, pixelated look to it. Though the frogs, while in nature only distinction is the color, upon closer inspection, they show a distinct frog model. Mudborne is a cute colorful game and I like playing it.
One song and it’s a damn good, cozy song. It is easy to get lost in the demo and miss the song but it is there and it fuels the coziness of the game.

Mudborne is a game that I enjoy. Like Apico’s demo, I played Mudborne’s for over an hour. It is easy to get lost, and that’s scary.
Mudborne is going to be something special and I am here for it.
