I was going to write this a long time ago but I was recently banned for being toxic. This week I want to talk about my experience with Overwatch 2 and how the gameplay is fun but the overall experience leaves such a sour taste in my mouth. I’m going to list everything I like and hate about this game I have over 575 hours in on PC alone.

Pros:

• The gameplay is fun to an extent.
• playing with friends is the best part, win or lose.
• Reinhardt and Doomfist are the most fun characters with Mcree right behind.

Cons:

• Literally everything else.
• The steamroll is even more of a realization than ever. Now, if you lack one good teammate then you are left to be absolutely slaughtered by the enemy team and there is usually nothing that your team can do.
• Newer characters feel more unbalanced when compared to the original ones. Being able to pull a teammate from danger makes Lifeweaver almost always a pick whereas I almost never see anyone play Brigitte or Zenayata. It just feels like you are handicapping your team if you are not picking the newer characters.
• Maps are the same with more lighting. Imagine sitting in the conference room and saying that the way to revitalize the older maps is to change them from night to day and vice versa. Imagine being that stupid.
• Teammates can throw games and berate teammates and not get banned for unsportsmanlike conduct and abusive chat but if I call someone a name then I get banned. See the referred image.

• The soldier that this comment was referring to had sold his team out and was actively throwing the game by not playing. I was the one banned, and he was throwing racist comment after racist comment.
• Paywall after paywall and fucking paywall. Overwatch is only good to sit down and play. I actually have no idea how anything works anymore. There are two different currencies, you can pay real money for things, and use some accrued currency to buy skins and comp points to buy the shiny variants. There is just so much being thrown at the player to purchase a cosmetic or a weapon charm? that I just want to enter and press quickplay, nothing else.

Overwatch is still fun, I fucking think, but it leaves more to be desired. I feel like quickplay is the only viable option to play (with friends) and even then, you are not allowed to try hard. The “It’s QP” discourse has ruined any fun that Overwatch has left.

Overwatch is only fun with friends and even then it is a slog.
