To start October off, I bought the Dead Space Remake for the PS5. It was known from my previous reviews of the Dead Space games that I absolutely adored them (yep, even Dead Space 3). This week I will give a quick review of the Dead Space Remake!

Positives:
- The game looks fantastic. Motive has taken everything that made the original spooky and amplified it by 1000.
- The areas like hydroponics and spaces where the fleshy hivemind has taken over have so much detail that it churned my stomach upon entering those areas.
- The necromorphs are terrifying on more than one occasion. The detailing on the spooky men, one with children spilling out of them, the divider, who charges at you with his lanky walk, and the one that moves really fast, all spooked me every time.
- All of the guns are functionally useful, as opposed to the originals, where it was hard to justify upgrading anything because any weapon was not the plasma cutter.
- The contact beam is 100% the most fun gun in the game now.
- Zero-G is free-roam now and that is how it should have been the entire time.
- Combat is the same, but the real change here is the visual representation of the damage of the necromorphs. As the player damages the spooky guys, skin falls off exposing bone until the limb is removed.
- The story is great. I liked all three of the games’ narratives and the remake is no exception. I like hearing Issac speak, I like how Motive is keeping the narrative the same, with a few added twists to keep it interesting.
- Side-quests are introduced and are worthwhile to explore. Security clearances give Dead Space more replayability.

Negatives:
- Still falls into horror game/movie tropes.
- Big, open room with nothing inside? Probably a surprise going to happen.
- “We fixed it!” and then another issue happens. It just keeps the plot chugging along.
The Dead Space Remake is on par with recent remakes like Resident Evil 4 Remake. Everything that was questionable in the original Dead Space has been ironed out and the game benefits greatly from it. I have nothing bad to say about this video game because it has done everything right.
The Dead Space Remake is one of my favorite games this year. It is an easy 9/10.
