Thank god Steam Nextfest is back because I was bored of looking through Steam for demos. With Nextfest, everything is at my fingertips and I can just download anything that catches my eye. It is very intuitive now and I am able to jump into a game demo almost immediately after downloading a few. This week is a cute pixel platformer inspired by games of old. This week is Bzzzt.
Bzzzt is a precision platformer from Ko.Dll and Cinemax/s.r.o. Bzzzt is set to release on November 13th for PC.
The year is 4096 and the tech revolution is at its zenith as two scientists, Professor Norbert and Doctor Emily, are working on creating a hyper-intelligent A.i, ZX8000. While there are those looking to do good in the world, there are those who want to spread their dark influence over it. In this case, Dr. Badbert is looking to unleash his nefarious plans on the world at the same time that ZX8000 is being born. It is up to this tiny little robot and its platforming prowess to defeat Dr. Badbert.

Bzzzt is a platformer with platforming elements to it. The demo has thirteen levels the player can play and one upgrade to attain. Bzzzt is very reminiscent of games like Celeste and Super Meat Boy in the idea that levels are catered to a predetermined path and completing that path the fastest is key. There are collectibles to collect while you are running through each level.
Bzzzt is a precision platformer but it is pretty lenient. It is more forgiving than games like Celeste and Super Meat Boy, but it does still possess a reasonable challenge to veterans of the genre. Bad guys that move on a predetermined path, laser floors, and random traps are littered throughout each area to test timing and jump abilities, Bzzzt has tight controls for tight mechanics.

Pixel graphics automatically means that it’s a beautiful game. There are a lot of colors going on in Bzzzt with the cyberpunk environment and when playing, all of the moving parts in the backdrop while platforming are busy and gorgeous, especially the boss fight.
Bzzzt is a gem of a video game. The platforming feels really good while still being fun and approachable for players. The game’s story is cheezy and fun, the graphics are bright and colorful and the levels are super fun and quick.
Bzzzt is a really sweet demo.
That is all I have to say.
