Last week’s Spooky Short Story is from the same developer but this time it is about the feeling of being followed while shopping. It is not a feeling I have ever had but I am sure some people do have the feeling that someone is following them as they are walking home. Hurry and complete your shopping trip before you add to the list of inhabitants disappearing in this small town. This week is The Shopping List.
The Shopping List is a horror game from JordiBoi. The game is available on Itch.io.

You have left your old life behind and moved into a small town with a bunch of rude people. You have forgotten to shop earlier in the day and now you have to shop at night. The kicker is that there has been a rash of disappearances, so it is imperative to hurry and move through that shopping list.
The Shopping List is really just a walking simulator with some weird and spooky shit sprinkled in. Walk to each store on the list talk to each of the incredibly awkward townsfolk and learn more about the people who have disappeared. There are even occasional random objects placed around the town to remind you of your shitty life before the move.

The Shopping List definitely creates a better atmosphere than it looks. Once you put the headphones on it is game time. The game really does look terrible in the light but when the spooky comes along, the game looks, for the most part, good and sounds even better.

The Shopping List is another fun, short spooky game from Jordiboi. Some of it is really weird and somehow it ends on such a good note. The game runs about an hour and it does not ever really have pacing issues. The character designs look so bad but the atmosphere is what shines in the game. The randomly placed items that cause dream sequences are rather dumb. “Oh, a random rose in the middle of nowhere. This brings back memories.” It is just dumb, but I see why it is done. Overall I believe that The Shopping List is a pretty decent hour-long video game.
