Year’s End – Forty Hours of Stardew Valley

It was a little bit slower this week for me to play Stardew, but I managed to put in another ten hours and I am almost through the Winter months and I just wanted to update everything that I have been doing with my farm.

I would have never known how bad the Winter was. I was not paying attention to the amount of hay that I was putting in the silo versus how much all of my animals were consuming. It was not until the 31st hour that I ran out of hay and resorted to buying a bunch from Marnie.

I panicked for a whole day thinking that my chickens were going to die.

I have two out of five stars in the community center as of right now. I am pretty close to finishing a few areas, like the pantry and the fish tank. I’ve put some extra money into the vault and I most recently got the bridge to the north fixed!

I think that I played Stardew too aggressively because Winter is so boring. I saw that there was a piece of mail to suggest that I do other activities like going to the mines because nothing grows during this time of the year. That would have been fine but I had completed the entirety of the mine already…before Winter came.

With that, I became an artisanal man; expanding my barn and coop, incorporating sheep, goats cows, chickens, and ducks to market cheese, mayonnaise, and wool. I also made Void Mayo…Whatever that is.

Artisanal goods make a lot of money.

Winter was a fun month overall but I am glad that it is over. I learned a lot about how Stardew functions and progresses as a video game. Just as the year closed out I learned through “secret notes” left around in the mines. I got my notebook out to make sure I always knew what the inhabitants of Pelican personally enjoy.

Year two has arrived and I spent all $25,000 on the various Spring crops and I am ready to fix the bus to the Calico Desert.
