I have been playing so many demos that I had forgotten to play some spooky games. This is why this is coming out on a Monday. Games Twitter strikes again this week with a short and sweet horror game about a missing brother and your adventure to find him. This week is Missing Hiker.
Missing Hiker is a horror game from Gemezl. The game was released in February 2023 for the PC and is currently free.
You take the role of a man who is driving up a mountain to look for his brother… In the middle of the night… In the cold… With nothing but a flashlight.
Find your brother
The gameplay is pretty much a walking simulator with focal points being highlighted to make sure that the player knows to go in that direction. A little bit of investigation involved talking to multiple NPCs to gather the information needed to head in a specific direction.

There are a couple of really good spooks and the ending really hits that high-point of a horror video game.
Missing Hiker is really fucking dark and with that, the sound design mirrors that eerie feeling. When the game has the appropriate amount of light it looks really good.

Missing Hiker is an eighteen-minute horror game and there are a few endings to extended replayability. Overall, Missing Hiker is an enjoyable experience. The atmosphere is really what makes the game. I was just anxious walking around in the complete darkness waiting for something to come at me, but it never did. Missing Hiker had me at the edge of my seat pretty much the whole eighteen minutes.
8/10 spooky indie video game
