Metal Gear Solid 3 is one of my favorite games ever. I was 14 and I played the hell out of that game. I bought Delta the literal first moment. I’ve been playing it with my wife in the room, and I have some things to say about this video game.
LET’S TALK!
PROS:
- Even back in 2004, I think the game looked pretty good, and now, in 2025, the upgrade is exactly what I wanted.
- Animations are clean, environments are absolutely stunning, and the voice-over fits (for the most part).
- HUGE FAN of the cutscenes. Watching all that cheesy spy crap is still fun, a little cringey, but for sure fun.
- The quality of life for the gameplay is what makes MGS Delta go over the top.
- I tried to play the original and it is ass. I stopped right after meeting Eva because it was just so annoying to play.
- I like how easy it is to use the communicator and swap camouflage. It makes everything seem more seamless as opposed to having to fully stop the game, go into a menu to do what you need to do.
- The camera is a HUGE BUFF. I remember seeing a review that the camera was good, but it made the game easier. I DON’T CARE. ILL TAKE THE NEW CAMERA EVERY. TIME.
- It just makes the gunplay all around better.
CONS:
- The cover system is absolute shit. I will be walking around, catch a corner, and sometimes I will stick to it, and other times I actively try to stick to a piece of cover, and IT WILL NOT WORK. It is absolutely frustrating.
MGS Delta Snake Eater is everything that I wanted in this remaster. I’ve been waiting for this for so long that there is nothing that can dampen the feeling of playing one of my favorite games again. The game is sharp, the combat and stealth has evolved and the Cold War narrative is to die for.
8/10
