I’ve been ignoring the wider audience in Arc Raiders because I swear that larger streamers and such absolutely destroy any semblance of fun in online games such as this. Anyway, I’ve been playing a good amount of Arc Raiders.
LET ME TALK ABOUT IT FOR A MOMENT.
PROS:
- I can just hang out after work, put on a podcast or something, and just play the video game.
- Slower-paced gameplay feels good.
- I can play how I want and still feel like I accomplished something at the end of each round.
- I like interacting with players; it is a nice offering of anxiety, suspicion, and teamwork.
- I also like shooting players. The gunplay is fun enough.
- I like looting.
- I like the maps.
- They are constructed in a way that makes every drop a different experience.
- I like the enemies and thier AI.
- Though sometimes those assholes are on my ass for what seems like an eternity
- Playing with friends is the best time, though trios only ever end up in a bloodbath.
CONS:
- AI voice acting is plain ass.
- Every time I hear Celeste talk about something that should have an exclamation, it just comes out as dribble.
- “WE THOUGHT WE WERE DONE FOR RAIDER,” just the tone is monotone.
- Every time I hear Celeste talk about something that should have an exclamation, it just comes out as dribble.
- Streamers and PVP thirsty gamers have destroyed duos/ trios
- There is no negotiating, only combat. EVERY INTERACTION.
- It gets boring trying to just loot with friends, and you always run into another team that NEEDS to fight.
- There is no negotiating, only combat. EVERY INTERACTION.
- Inventory management sim is boring a lot of the time.
- I just go free all the time because management, crafting, and all that is an absolute slog I don’t want to really do.
All in all, I am having a lot of fun with Arc Raiders. It is a fun, more actual version of the extraction shooter genre. It has its faults, but I generally ignore them because I am having so much fun.
