Still here playing cozy games, and I have been following this game for some time now, and I finally got to play the demo a little early. This week is a game that has me cleaning a dirty world with my trusty water gun to help the local flora and fauna.
This week is Muri: Wildwoods
Muri: Wildwoods is an adventure/cleaning game from Speldosa Interactive. It’ll release SOMETIME
Take the role of a Muri named Pelle, out on the first-ever mission as a cleaner. Our good old lunch is interrupted by a stork of sorts covered in goop, and Pelle decides to follow and stumbles across what looks like the epicenter of the toxic goop outbreak.
You’ve played cleaning games before, and Muri is that, but with more platforming. Cleaning is as simple as it gets. You have a water gun, hipfire sends big droplets down to clean up bigger goop bubbles. A lot of the time, there will be goop in areas that you cannot reach with the hipfire, like on the top of flora, and on taller structures in the distance. Aiming down the sights alleviates this by allowing Pelle to adjust the stream’s size, so the player can maximize the amount of goop cleaned. You can clean and pet the animals too, which is just fantastic.

Cleaning black, oily goop from nature is as fun and relaxing as ever. It hits the spot as you clean horizontally, and the goop cuts off perfectly. Structures blink when cleared 100% so you do not keep looking in the same area for goop.
WOWIE, it does wonders to see it.
As you clean, there will be moments when you clean an area 100%, then a little cutscene, reminiscent of Okami, shows the area explode in color as life seeps back into the world around you. I never get tired of the explosion effect.

This beauty extends to the overall game. The demo cove area is absolutely beautiful with its clear blue waters and lush green mossy areas. As the water hits the last section of a dirty area, it is a *chef’s kiss* moment as the lush colors come rolling in. Lastly, I think the demo’s ending is a perfect setpiece because the way the color is brought back into the world makes the effort feel more worthwhile. Pelle is an adorable creature, and the little side panels with their friends talking while you clean is a welcome visual addition.
I am a huge fan of cozy games, and I have been waiting for this game demo for a while. I am still excited for Muri: Wildwoods. The game is stunning in its demo presentation, and it is a blast to clean stuff and watch the color burst back into the world. The platforming is fine; it adds another layer to the already fun experience. SO FAR SO GOOD.
