Steam Nextfest – Froggonit

I tend to lose sight of the demos that I have played, with saying that, I think that this is the last of the Steam Nextfest demos that I have played. From the maker of Restless Souls comes a game about a frog trying to find their place in the world, this week is the Froggonit demo.

Froggonit is an adventure game from Fuz Games. The demo is still available to download via Steam and has no release date yet.

You take the role of Froggonit, a frog that wants to be an adventurer. It is a shame that everything in his world has been discovered, so naturally Froggonit finds a mythical item that allows him one wish. Froggonit wishes, in good faith, that everything can be discovered again. This wish plunges the world into total darkness and Froggonit is the only adventurer left to rediscover this old world.

Froggonit is, again, a simple game. You are really only ever talking to folks and exhausting all of their voice lines and moving on to the next one. There is a small taste of the kind of puzzles and combat that will probably unfold in the full game. Locating colored library books to unlock a secret passageway and a simple dodging minigame is what awaits the player in the demo, among other things. Now that everything can be discovered again, much of the gameplay is buried beneath the unknown world.

I don’t know how to put into words what Froggonit looks like. It is cute, it is pixelated, the colors are smooth, and it’s 2D/3D. It works well, but I wish there was a little more detail, everything is just one color.

Froggonit, just like Restless Souls, is a cute, funny video game. I played the latter and enjoyed it thoroughly and I can see that Froggonit is shaping up to be a funny adventure centered around a stupid little frog. The minigames are fun and the puzzles are simple enough to not cause frustration.

It is a good demo that shows off all of the fun the player will have when the game releases.
